A few days ago we had this massive power outage in the suburb i live in. Everything was out everywhere, stores, restaurants, even traffic lights were all dead. No traffic lights cause my 15 minute drive to famous footwear to become a 1.5 hour long drive only to find it was closed and have to drive another 1.5 hours back home. Because i spent 3 hours driving, by the time i got home, it was pitch black and i had no idea what to do. It was only 9pm, too early to sleep. No power to go on the computer/watch tv, and no light to even read. Not to mention my phone had died and thus i had no method of communication. So i took my ipod into my sisters old room and just immersed myself in a solid hour of praise. Just reminded me how much God loves me, and how closely he's been watching over me this past month (It's already been a month guys... 1 more to !gnite, 3 more to the next school year... oh snap). Anyway after an hour or so, I hear my brother come back from wing night. The power went out so all you can eat wings turned into 10 wings for my brother. He raged for a while then calmed down. Seeing as there was absolutely nothing to do, I started talking to my brother... for real.
temporary and necessary flash back:
A few weeks back, my youth pastor decided to have bible studies run by the older high school kids for the younger youth group kids. My brother was one of the leaders. Our pastor told me to go watch over his group to make sure things were getting done. My brother failed to prepare anything or even read the passage and it turned into 5 minutes of twiddling thumbs until I decided to step in. Prayed to God that i could teach at least one of these kids one thing and God answered.
Real time:
My brother asked me
"How did you learn so much about Jesus and church and stuff?"
"How do you think?"
"I dont know... just studying?"
"yeah thats part of it"
"but like how come your'e good at reading the bible?"
"what?"
*brother recalls flash back*
"oh... Prayer lets God help you with whatever you do, and when he helps everything is better"
(side note, my brother is in our church's youth praise band)
"but we pray for praise band, and we still suck"
at this point i went on a long questioning rampage that ultimately ended in me finding out that my brother does praise band for the wrong reasons, has God misplaced in priority, and is proud of what he does spiritually.
I was able to give him some guidance to him which he seemed to take to heart... but we'll see :X
I'm praying for revival in my home church :3
Other news:
Starting guitar lessons next tuesday... not sure how effective 3 months of it will be.
