Hey i'm on a boat (why don't we ever use the acronym 'ioab'?),
Sorry for the lack of updating.. I've literally had this post open on my laptop since tues and all I've been able to manage is the addition of a couple words each day that subsequently get deleted in the next hour because I type faster than I think hahaha. Obviously journaling/blogging hasn't gotten much easier, but I've been keeping up with the 30-day brp and journaling about it each day, for the most part. Overall, God's been keeping me on my toes and has been teaching me a lot even through a couple short passages.
One big thing that finally clicked for me was the idea of sacrifice, something that the pastors have been talking about a lot lately. They kept on emphasizing the fact that something isn't a sacrifice if it's easy for us to give up. I started questioning whether or not something is considered a sacrifice if we don't want to give it up for whatever reason, but give it up anyway because we know we're supposed to. The reading from 3/17 summed it all up in one verse:
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
-2 Corinthians 9:7
God doesn't need the things I sacrifice to him, he only wants sacrifice to be something that reflects my heart for him. God is God of the universe, why does he care about what I sacrifice? He only cares about why I sacrifice.
Also, side note - a couple weeks ago my discipler (lg life application reminder :P) made me memorize a couple verses from 1 Samuel 15 which, looking back on it now, I realize basically sum up everything I just wrote, but none of it made sense at the time. Just goes to show how blind I am even with the answer sitting right in front of me and how out of tune I am with God sometimes, even when I think I'm fine.
Last side note, my dad's been experiencing a lot of liver pains this past week, but right now the doctors are still in the process of diagnosing it so it's just been a bunch of tests and we aren't really sure what's going on. yea if you could keep him in your prayers that'd be awesome, thanks :)
