So..break has been break. Lots of sleeping, studying, and cleaning! Since it's not actually spring, I haven't been able to do much outside =/. Anyway, to not waste your time with drivel...
I actually read this passage at like 2 am last night before passing out so I had to re-read it again just now to refresh myself. The one verse that really stuck with me was
“Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
What I think is interesting is that Jacob recognizes God so quickly immediately after being awoken. To put it into perspective, if I had woken up from a deep sleep to a blinding white light, I would be disoriented and a little freaked out; I find it cool that Jacob manages to be like "whoa, light? Man that's GOD." The feeling that he must've felt, the thrill of being in the house of God is something that I would love to experience..or maybe I already have - God's love.
From this passage I realized that I don't need a spectacular light and the booming voice of God (I think of Morgan Freeman's voice every time -_-) in order to be filled by the Spirit; simply put, realizing God's love covers all that and more.
On another note, Psalm 63 still speaks to me :)
